It spanned the Cyclades, the eastern and southern parts of mainland Greece, and the western coast of Asia Minor, including Crete and Cyprus, from about 3000 BC (or 2800 BC) to about 1200 BC. This civilization was not a single entity, and consisted of several civilizations with shifting centers and scopes, but they are grouped together under the term Aegean civilization because of their commonalities. Since Greek civilization emerged in the aforementioned region after it, it can also be called the "Pre-Greek (Pre-Hellenic) civilization," but this civilization was neither a precursor nor a precursor to Greek civilization, and has its own unique characteristics. …
