Battle of Aquae Sextiae - Battle of Aquae Sextiae

...Two years later, when the Cimbri returned to Gaul, the tribes split into two factions and attempted to invade Italy. The Teutones, along with the Ambroni (probably a Cimbri, a northern Germanic tribe like the Teutones; this is unclear), attempted to invade Italy from the Alps, but were annihilated by the Roman army under Marius at the Battle of Aquae Sextiae (now Aix-en-Provence) in 102 BC. After this, the Teutones disappeared from historical sources, but a boundary stone inscribed "inter Toutonos" was discovered, suggesting that some of their surviving members may have lived in the Main region in the 2nd or 3rd century AD.
