〘Noun〙 Gold that came from China. A type of primitive currency from ancient China, it was introduced to Japan as trade settlement from China from the end of the Middle Ages to the mid-Edo period. It is like bullion, but weighs 100 momme ( 375 grams) or 50 momme each, and is of high quality, close to pure gold. By extension, it refers to high-quality gold. Inshi. 〘名〙中国から渡来した金。中国古代の原始的貨幣の一種で、中世末期から江戸中期頃まで、中国からの貿易決済として日本に移入された。地金(じがね)ようのものだが、目方は一個一〇〇匁（三七五グラム）または五〇匁で純金に近い精良なもの。転じて、良質の金をいう。いんし。いんす。→「いんつう（銀子）」の語誌。※大和本草（1709）三「印子(インス)金。精金なり」〔夢渓筆談‐異事〕
