Horse hill road - Umayasakamichi

...In the reign of Ojin, this was the place where horses sent as tribute from Baekje were bred. In the Nihon Shoki, the entry for October of the third year of the Ojin era records the construction of a stable road by exterminating the Emishi in the east, and in the entry for August of the fifteenth year, the king of Baekje orders Achiki to breed two fine horses in the stables at Karu no Saka no Ue. This probably refers to the gentle slope south of Karu no Chimata.

…応神朝に，百済から貢上された馬を飼育した所。《日本書紀》応神3年10月条に，東の蝦夷を役して厩坂道を作ったこと，15年8月条に，百済王の遣わした阿直岐（あちき）に命じ，軽坂上（かるのさかのうえ）の厩で良馬2匹を飼育させた記事がみえている。軽衢（かるのちまた）から南方の緩やかな坂を指すのであろう。…
