Born January 12, 1893 in Rosenheim, South Bavaria
Died October 15, 1946. A senior member of the Nazi Party in Nuremberg. He served in an air squadron during World War I, joined the Nazis in 1922, organized the SA (Sturmgeschütz) and participated in the Munich Putsch in 1923, but failed and went into exile. He returned to Germany in 1926, became a member of the Reichstag in 1928, and became the speaker of the Reichstag in 1932. He joined the Nazi government as a minister without portfolio, and also served as Minister of the Interior of the Prussian Province (later Prime Minister). He served as Minister of Aviation, Commander in Chief of the Air Force, and Director of the Four-Year Plan, and strongly promoted the expansion of the military. He was nominated as A. Hitler's first successor during World War II, but was stripped of all his official positions due to differences of opinion toward the end of the war. He was sentenced to death by hanging at the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg, but committed suicide by taking poison just before his execution.

[Died] November 14, 1936. Born near Jena. German playwright and novelist. A representative of Expressionism, he was known for his anti-war works. He committed suicide. His most famous work is the tragedy Seeschlacht (1917), which deals with the Battle of the Skagerrak during World War I. It was also performed in Japan as the opening play for the Tsukiji Little Theatre.

ドイツの劇作家，小説家。表現主義を代表する一人で，反戦をテーマにした作品で知られる。自殺をとげた。代表作は悲劇『海戦』 Seeschlacht (1917) 。第1次世界大戦中のスカゲラク海戦を扱ったもので，日本でも築地小劇場のこけら落しに上演された。
