〘noun〙① A place where horses to be used for postal or tandem trains are prepared. ※Haiku, Saikaku Daikusu (1677), vol. 2 "Counting the way, at the horse inn of the karuta, Sekiyama three or four or five or six?" ② A laborer working at a horse inn. A horseman. ※Ukiyo-zoshi, Amorous Life Man (1682), vol. 6 "Even at the horse inn in Kanasuki, I think of you, and I am barefoot." ③ When a person traveling on his horse stays at an inn, the horse is kept at the inn. Also, an inn with such facilities. Uma-yadori. ※Nagashi (1913) by Mori Ogai "The front is a travelers ' inn, but in the back there is a large stable and it also serves as a horse inn."
