〘Noun〙① Under the Ritsuryo system, these were members of the left and right horse bureaus and were in charge of taking care of the horses. They were on guard duty above the households that raised the horses (the households that raised the horses). Each had a capacity of 60 people. 〘名〙① 令制で、左右の馬寮に属し、馬の世話をする伴部。馬を飼育する戸（馬飼造戸）から上番する。定員各六〇人。平安末期になると禁中に詰めて警衛にもあたった。※令義解（718）職員「馬部六十人」② 「めぶ（馬部）の司」の略。
