A city in central Osaka Prefecture, facing Osaka Bay and bordering Sakai City to the south. It was incorporated as a city in 1966. The coast was once a scenic spot with Hagoromo and Takashihama, but in recent years, land reclamation has led to the development of an oil refinery. There are also spinning and weaving factories. The area around Hagoromo is an upscale waterfront residential area. The city is served by the Hanwa Line, the Nankai Main Line and Takashihama Line, and the Hanshin Expressway Bayshore Line. Area: 11.30 km2 . Population: 59,572 (2010).
