...The southern part of the plain, bounded by the Ishizuchi Fault Escarpment along the Median Tectonic Line, forms a steep slope that stretches in a straight line from east to west, with a series of small alluvial fans toward the north. In a broad sense, the Niihama Plain collectively refers to the Dozen Plain in the west (the western part is called the Shuso Plain, and the eastern part the Saijo Plain), the Higashishin Plain in the center, and the Uma Plain in the east. In a narrower sense, it refers to the Higashishin Plain, an alluvial fan delta formed by the Kokuryo River, and corresponds to the center of Niihama City.
