Iga Rebellion

Japanese: 伊賀の乱 - いがのらん
Iga Rebellion

…The Iga Sokoku Ikki was destroyed by the forces of Oda Nobukatsu, who invaded Iga under the orders of Oda Nobunaga in September 1581 (Tensho 9). Castles, temples and shrines in Iga were reduced to ashes, and there are virtually no historical documents in Iga that tell us about the existence of the Sokoku Ikki. [Inaba Nobumichi]
[Early Modern Period]
In 1581, Oda Nobunaga sent in a large army to pacify the Iga Rebellion, which was so devastating that it was described as a "destruction," and it had a major impact on the structure of rural areas. After that, after the Takikawa and Wakisaka clans, in 1585, Tsutsui Sadatsugu was transferred from Yamato to Iga with a fief of 50,000 koku by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and built his castle in Ueno.
