It originally belonged to the Imperial Household Ministry, but in 808 , it was merged with the Ministry of Interior and Nuidono- no-tsukasa . It was in charge of dyeing cloth for offerings to the Emperor. 〘名〙 令制における官司の一つ。初め宮内省に属したが、大同三年(八〇八)、中務(なかつかさ)省縫殿寮(ぬいどののつかさ)に併合された。供御の染物の事をつかさどった。職員に正(かみ)、佑(じょう)、令史(さかん)各一人、染師二人、その他がある。※令義解(718)職員「内染司 正一人」
