He was born in 1615. In 1620 he became a personal attendant to the shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu. In 1633 he became the head clerk of the page group. In 1656 he became the first head of the Uchida clan to rule Kanuma Domain in Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture) and was awarded a stipend of 15,000 koku.
