Black-throated finch (English: black-throated finch)

Japanese: キンセイチョウ(錦静鳥) - キンセイチョウ（英語表記）black‐throated finch

A bird of the family Acanthidae (illustration) in the order Passerine. Smaller than sparrows, it is about 10cm long. Sexes are the same color. It has a grey-white head and a jet black beak, throat, and tail. The eyes, lower back, and sides of the underbelly are also black. Its back is grey-brown. It lives in grassy sparse woodlands and shrubs in northeastern Australia, and prefers coastal areas and riverside areas with lots of brush. It is a man-hating bird and does not live near human settlements. Its staple diet is grass seeds, but it takes large amounts of insects during the breeding season. It breeds monogamously, building a bag-like nest with a roof in the middle of a shrub.
