An archaeological site located in the western suburbs of Santa Cruz del Quiche, a city in south-central Guatemala. Its Quiche name is Cumarkahu. It was the capital of the Quiche Kingdom, which flourished during the post-classic period of the Maya civilization. It was conquered by the Spaniard Pedro de Alvarado in 1524.
