An old town in Jinseki County, in the Kibi Plateau, eastern Hiroshima Prefecture. The main settlement is a town village along National Route 182. It is known for producing Jinseki beef. It also produces rice, flowers, konjac, shiitake mushrooms, and tobacco leaves. In November 2004, it merged with Jinseki Town, Miwa Town, and Toyomatsu Village in Jinseki County to become Jinsekikogen Town. 98.02 km2 . 3,236 people (2003). 広島県東部,吉備(きび)高原中の神石(じんせき)郡の旧町。主集落は国道182号線に沿う街村。神石牛の生産で知られる。米,花卉(かき),コンニャク,シイタケ,葉タバコなども産する。2004年11月神石郡神石町,三和町,豊松村と合併し町制,神石高原町となる。98.02km2。3236人(2003)。
