Born: May 10, 1886 in Toyama
[Died] May 14, 1970. Tokyo businessman. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Tokyo Imperial University, he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, but at the urging of business leader Go Seinosuke, he joined the Tokyo Stock Exchange as a director and other companies connected to Go. He happened to be arrested for his involvement in the Teijin Incident in 1934, but was found not guilty, but was forced to become a ronin for a time. During World War II, he was deputy mayor of Tokyo. After the war, he took over management of Komatsu Ltd., and successfully rebuilt it with the special demand, and later grew the company into an international company as a leading manufacturer of bulldozers. He also served as a member of the House of Representatives, and was always active as a mastermind in the political world. He also worked hard to promote economic exchanges between Japan, China, and the Soviet Union after the war.

実業家。東京帝国大学法学部卒業後農商務省に勤務したが，財界世話役の郷誠之助にすすめられて，東京証券取引所理事のほか，郷の関係する諸企業に参加。たまたま 1934年の帝人事件に連座して逮捕され，無罪となったが，一時は浪人を余儀なくされた。第2次世界大戦中は東京市助役。戦後小松製作所の経営を引受け，特需のもとに再建に成功，その後同社をブルドーザのトップメーカーとして国際的企業に成長させた。他方衆議院議員もつとめ，政界でも終始黒幕的存在として活動。また戦後の日中・日ソ経済交流にも尽力した。
