Tile tower - Gato

Japanese: 瓦塔 - がとう
Tile tower - Gato
〘Noun〙 A sueki stupa (stone tablet) . Each layer was fired and assembled. They have been excavated from temple ruins and kiln remains from the Nara and Heian periods. There are various theories as to their origin, including that they were erected on the site of a planned temple, as a substitute for a large wooden stupa, or as a memorial tower on top of a tomb. A five-story pagoda measuring about two meters was excavated from Higashimurayama City, Tokyo.
