...The guilds, which were made up of merchants and craftsmen, had their own uniforms according to the type of work they were involved in, and were clearly distinguished from other guilds. Members participated in festival processions wearing uniforms, and guilds were also called livery companies. The long jacket called the justocolle, which appeared in the 17th century and became the prototype of today's clothing, became shorter and double-breasted jackets during the Napoleonic era, and this could be said to be the precursor to the military uniforms we wear today.
