...In Japan, Paragonimus westermanii was previously thought to be the only parasite of humans, but since 1974, cases of human infection with P. miyazakii , which was thought to be a parasite of wild animals such as weasels and martens, have been reported. Other animal parasites distributed in Japan include P. ohirai and P. iloktsuenensis . Adults of P. westermanii are coffee bean-shaped, with a flat ventral surface and a bulging dorsal surface, and are about 12 mm long, 7 mm wide, and 5 mm thick. ...
