He followed in his father's footsteps as a physician and worked in Nunokawa, Shimousa, while also working on the geography of the Kanto region, particularly the Tone River system. In addition to "Tonegawa Zushi," which includes a preface from 1855, he wrote "Zoku Tonegawa Zushi" and "Choshi Nikki."
