Born in Tenbun 15. Son of Akimoto Kagetomo. Served Uesugi Norimori along with his father, and later Tokugawa Ieyasu. After the Battle of Sekigahara, in 1603, he became the first lord of the Akimoto family in the Soja domain in Kozuke (Gunma Prefecture). He was awarded a fief of 10,000 koku. He contributed to the administration of the domain by building Tenguiwazeki (Etchu moat) on the Tone River and cultivating new rice fields. He died on August 29, 1620, at the age of 83.
