Born on August 9, 1908. Studied the Okura school under Kitamura Ichiro, and made his debut in 1921 as a waki-drum player in the play "Okina." In 1982, he was designated a Living National Treasure. He passed away on March 30, 1997, at the age of 88. Born in Chiba Prefecture. Graduated from Atago Commercial High School.
