Konkou [town] - Konkou
An old town in Asakuchi County, southwest of Okayama Prefecture. Hills run from north to south, and the Sanyo Main Line runs through the central lowlands. In 1859, Kanamoto sect was founded, and a temple town was formed in Otani. Many worshippers visit the town, especially during the spring and autumn festivals. Peach, grape, and pear cultivation is popular, and flowering trees are also cultivated, with plants being a specialty of the town. In March 2006, it merged with Kamogata Town and Yorishima Town in Asakuchi County to become a city, Asakuchi City. Area: 21.01 km2 . Population: 12,492 (2003).

岡山県南西部,浅口郡の旧町。南北に丘陵があり,中央低地に山陽本線が通じる。1859年金光教が興り,大谷に門前町が形成された。特に春秋の大祭は参拝者が多い。モモ,ブドウ,ナシの栽培が盛んで,花木の栽培も行い,植木を特産する。2006年3月,浅口郡鴨方町,寄島町と合併し市制,浅口市となる。21.01km2。1万2492人(2003)。
