[Tile Hanging]
In areas where the wooden tiles mentioned above were used, especially in areas such as coasts where there were strong horizontal winds and rain, wooden tiles were also laid on the walls to create a weather-resistant wall finish. Tile hanging is the replacement of this with fired tiles. In the eastern United States in the second half of the 19th century, it became popular to cover the entire wall and roof with cedar shingles (wooden tiles), and this construction style is called the shingle style.
