A lay Buddhist sect that flourished in China from the Song to the Yuan dynasties. It was founded by the monk Qingjie. It was a religious group that was extremely critical of Zen Buddhism and adhered to religious discipline. It developed mainly in Zhejiang Province, where Qingjie's remains were buried, but it was persecuted by the government at the time and criticized by other sects for being a heretical cult, and eventually fell into disuse.
