Waterfall Development Model

...Between each stage, standard specifications such as functional specifications, system design specifications, and program design specifications are prepared. This method of dividing the development process into multiple stages and having specialized personnel take charge of each stage is also called the waterfall development model. In this model, the process up to system design is often called the upstream process, and the process after program design is often called the downstream process.
