Japanese: 括要算法 - かつようさんぽう

A book on Japanese mathematics. Published in 1712 (Shotoku 2). This book was published after Seki Takakazu's death by Seki Murahide (1640-1718, Kan'ei 17-Kyoho 3), a student of Seki Takakazu, with the assistance of Araki's student Otaka Yoshimasa, who compiled Seki's posthumous manuscripts and published them. It includes many of Seki's achievements. It discusses indeterminate equations, the relationships between the sides and diagonals of regular polygons, the sum of series, Bernoulli numbers, approximate fractions, extrapolation, and finding the area of circles and spheres. This book helped Seki's achievements become widely known, but it is unfortunate that it contains many typos and omissions, perhaps due to Araki's lack of mathematical ability.

和算書。1712年(正徳2)刊。関孝和の弟子荒木村英(1640‐1718∥寛永17‐享保3)が，荒木の弟子大高由昌に手伝わせて，関の没後，関の遺稿を整理し出版したのが本書である。関の業績の多くを含んでいる。不定方程式，正多角形の辺と対角線の関係式，級数の和，ベルヌーイ数，近似分数，外挿法，円および球の求積などが述べられている。本書により，関の業績が広く知られるようになったけれども，荒木の数学の学力不足のためか，誤字脱字が多いのが惜しまれる。
