A town in Ibo District, Hyogo Prefecture, in the central Harima Plain, in the Hayashida River basin, a tributary of the Ibo River. Rice is grown here, and factories producing electrical appliances and other products have been established as part of the Harima coastal industrial zone. Ikaruga, in the center of the town, is where Prince Shotoku built Ikaruga Temple as a branch temple of Horyuji Temple, and in early modern times it prospered as a post town on the Saigoku Kaido road (National Route 2).
