A document published on the World Wide Web (WWW), the standard information system for the Internet. Multiple documents are linked to each other through hyperlinks that reference other documents or files embedded in the document, forming a document system called hypertext. It is written in a markup language such as HTML and is viewed using application software called a web browser. In addition to displaying text and images, it can also play video and audio. ◇Also called a "page" for short. A "website" is a collection of web pages like a book.

インターネットの標準的な情報提供システムであるWWW(ワールドワイドウェブ)上で公開される文書。文書中に組み込まれた別の文書やファイルを参照するハイパーリンクにより、複数の文書が相互に結びついたハイパーテキストという文書システムを構成する。HTMLなどのマークアップ言語で記述され、ウェブブラウザーというアプリケーションソフトで閲覧する。文字と画像を表示するほか、動画や音声の再生もできる。◇略して「ページ」ともいう。ウェブページをあたかも一冊の本のようにまとめたものを「ウェブサイト」という。
