There are other browsers such as Opera, Safari, and Firefox, and the convenience of the tabbed browser function, which allows multiple homepages to be displayed in one window using tabs, has been well received. For this reason, Microsoft has also included the tabbed browser function as standard in Internet Explorer 7.0 and later.

Webサイトを閲覧したり、Web上のファイルをダウンロードするためのソフトウェア。インターネットからHTMLファイルや画像、音楽ファイル、動画ファイルをダウンロード、解析してパソコン上に表示、再生する。以前はNetscape社のブラウザーがトップシェアであったが、現在は、OSのWindowsに最初から組み込まれている「インターネットエクスプローラ」がシェアの大部分を占めている。他にも「Opera」「Safari」「Firefox」などのブラウザーがあり、タブによってホームページを1つのウインドウに複数表示させるタブブラウザー機能の利便性が好評を博している。そのため、Microsoft社もインターネットエクスプローラ7.0からは標準で、タブブラウザー機能を搭載させることになった。
