Fukatsu City - Fukatsu City

An ancient Japanese market. According to the 27th chapter of the second volume of the Nihon Ryoiki, it existed in Fukatsu-go, Bingo Province (Hiroshima Prefecture) in the late 8th century, where various goods, including luxury items for New Year's events, were bought and sold, and it is believed to have been a central market in the central Setouchi region, attracting people from Sanuki Province (Kagawa Prefecture) and other places. The most likely theory is that it corresponds to the area around Nigo (formerly Ichimura) (formerly Ichimura), from Miyanomae in Zao-cho, Fukuyama City today. This area was closely connected to the Bingo provincial capital (Kannabe Town or Fuchu City) by the Ashida River, and it is believed that Fukatsu City, along with its port of Fukatsu, had strong ties to the provincial capital.

日本古代の市。『日本霊異記(にほんりょういき)』下巻第27話によると、8世紀後半の備後(びんご)国（広島県）深津郷に存在し、正月行事用の奢侈(しゃし)品を含む諸物資が売買され、讃岐(さぬき)国（香川県）などからも人が集まる中部瀬戸内の中心的な市であったことがうかがえる。現在の福山市蔵王(ざおう)町宮の前から仁伍(にご)付近（旧名、市村）に比定する説が有力である。この地は芦田(あしだ)川によって備後国府（神辺(かんなべ)町もしくは府中市）との結び付きの濃い地域であり、港の深津港とともに深津市も国府との結び付きが深かったと考えられる。
