Ueno Line

...A private railway with 91.5 km (1997) of lines in Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture. Formerly Keisei Electric Tramway, founded in 1909, it changed its name to its current name in 1945. Its main line runs between Keisei Ueno and Narita Airport, and in addition to the Chiba Line between Keisei Tsudanuma and Chiba Chuo, it also has the Oshiage Line, Kanamachi Line, and Higashi-Narita Line. The 2.1 km section leading to Narita Airport belongs to the Narita Airport Rapid Transit Line, and is operated as a second-class railway business. The terminal stations at Keisei Ueno, Oshiage, and Narita Airport are all underground, and the section between Keisei Ueno and Nippori, completed in 1958, was the first underground line in Tokyo for a suburban private railway to enter the city center.

…東京都と千葉県に91.5km(1997)の路線を有する民営鉄道。1909年創立の京成電気軌道を前身とし，45年現在の社名に改められた。京成上野～成田空港間を本線とし，京成津田沼～千葉中央間の千葉線のほか押上（おしあげ）線，金町線および東成田線がある。成田空港に至る2.1kmは成田空港高速鉄道に属するものを第2種鉄道事業として営業している。京成上野，押上，成田空港の各終端駅は地下式となっており，とくに33年完成した京成上野～日暮里（につぽり）間は東京では最初の地下線による郊外民鉄の都心乗入れであった。…
