Dulong-Petit's law

…An empirical law for the constant-volume molar specific heat C _v of solids discovered in 1819 by Pierre Louis Dulong (1785-1838) and Alexis Thérèse Petit (1791-1820). Regardless of the type of solid, C _v = 3 R ( R is the gas constant). It is explained by the classical law of equipartition of energy, but this does not hold true at low temperatures due to the appearance of quantum properties.
