Hirayu [Hot spring] - Hirayu

Japanese: 平湯[温泉] - ひらゆ

This hot spring is a national health resort located in Kamiho Village, Yoshiki District, Gifu Prefecture (now Takayama City). It is located at the northern foot of Mt. Norikura, at an altitude of 1,233m. It is a saline heavy spring with an abundant supply of hot water at 39-96℃. It is said to have been discovered at the end of the 16th century, and the Hirayu Onsen-ki was recorded in 1685. It is the base for bus climbs of Mt. Norikura, and Hirayu Waterfall is nearby. It belongs to Chubu Sangaku National Park, and can be reached by bus from Takayama Station on the Takayama Main Line. It also leads to Kamikochi via Abo Pass.

岐阜県吉城(よしき)郡上宝村（現・高山市）にある国民保養温泉。乗鞍岳北麓に位置し，標高1233m。含食塩土類重ソウ泉，39〜96℃で湯が豊富。16世紀末の発見とされ，1685年《平湯温泉記》が記されている。乗鞍岳バス登山の根拠地で，付近に平湯大滝がある。中部山岳国立公園に属し，高山本線高山駅からバス。安房(あぼう)峠を経て上高地にも通じる。
