Two Cities Films

…Under the umbrella of Rank, nicknamed “King Arthur,” seven “unit productions” stood like knights of the Round Table, each of which produced distinctive works, such as the following: (1) “Two Cities Films,” headed by F. Giudice, produced “Henry V” (1945), directed and starring L. Olivier, “Hamlet” (1948), “The Last Charge” (1944), directed by C. Reid, and “The Man Who Cried” (1946). (2) In 1943, Cine Guild was founded by A. Havelock Allan, D. Lean, and R. Neame, with Noel Coward as its executive director. The Guild produced films based on Coward's own original novels, such as The Happy Race (1944), The Merry Ghost (1945), and An Encounter (1945), as well as Lean's films, such as Great Expectations (1946), Oliver Twist (1948), and The Passionate Friend.
