Tadamune Nagata

Japanese: 長田忠致 - おさだ・ただむね

Years of birth: unknown. A military commander in the late Heian period. Descended from Kanmu-Heishi no Michitsune, said to have been a succession of retainers of the Kawachi-Genji clan. Residing in Chita District, Owari Province (Aichi Prefecture). In 1159 (Heiji 1), he hid Minamoto no Yoshitomo, who was heading east after being defeated in the Heiji Rebellion, but then killed him. The old printed book "Heiji Monogatari" states that he was executed after following Yoritomo, who had raised an army, but it is possible that he was succeeded by "Nagata Nyudo", who is mentioned in the "Azuma Kagami" as having been killed in 1180 (Jisho 4).

平安末期の武将。桓武平氏致経の子孫,河内源氏累代の家人とされる。尾張国(愛知県)知多郡に居住。平治1(1159)年,平治の乱に敗れて東下する源義朝を一旦かくまいながら殺害。古活字本『平治物語』は挙兵した頼朝に従ったのち処刑されたとするが,あるいは『吾妻鏡』に治承4(1180)年討たれたとある「長田入道」がその後身か。
