Wilhelm von Holland

Japanese: ウィルヘルム・フォン・ホラント(英語表記)Wilhelm von Holland
Wilhelm von Holland
Born 1227/1228 in Leiden
[Died] January 28, 1256.
German rival king (reigned 1247-56). Count of Holland in the Netherlands. Elected by the Papists (→Papists and Imperialists) to oppose Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II (though the title of emperor was not recognized by the Pope), he had few supporters. After the death of the German king Conrad IV in 1254, he was officially recognized as king, but his position was unstable. He was killed in battle at Friesland in 1256, and the Holy Roman Empire was in a period of great interregnum that lasted until 1273.
