Yin-wen tao (English spelling)

Japanese: 印文陶 - いんもんとう（英語表記）Yin-wen tao

In a broad sense, it refers to pottery that still bears the marks of impacts made during molding, or pottery with stamped patterns. When used as a cultural marker, it refers to pottery found in the southeastern coastal region of China from the Neolithic period to the Han dynasty. This is further divided into early soft pottery and later hard pottery, with hard pottery with geometric stamp designs flourishing during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period. Most of the vessels are jars or pots, and the designs are geometric on the entire surface.

広義には成形時の拍打痕を残している土器や文様が押印されている土器。一つの文化標識としていわれる場合には，中国南東沿岸地域における新石器時代から漢代にかけてみられる土器をさす。これはさらに前期の軟陶と後期の硬陶に分けられ，盛行したのは春秋・戦国時代の幾何学印文硬陶である。器形は壺，甕の類が多く，文様は幾何学文が器の全面に施されている。
