Abbreviation for International Decade of Ocean Exploration. An international cooperative research program conducted in the 1970s by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO. Centering on marine scientists from the United States, with some participation from European and Japanese scientists, the main pillars of the program were environmental characteristics, environmental forecasting, seafloor assessment, and biological resources, with several research projects being carried out under each of these.

国際海洋研究十年計画International Decade of Ocean Explorationの略称。ユネスコの政府間海洋学委員会Intergovernment Oceanographic Commission(略称IOC)が主催し，1970年代に行われた国際協同研究プログラム。アメリカの海洋科学者を中心に，ヨーロッパや日本の科学者も一部参加し，環境特性，環境予報，海底アセスメント，生物資源の研究をおもな柱とし，その下におのおの数個の研究計画が実施された。
