Aidit - Aidit (English spelling) Dipa Nusantara Aidit

Japanese: アイディット - あいでぃっと(英語表記)Dipa Nusantara Aidit
Aidit - Aidit (English spelling) Dipa Nusantara Aidit

Indonesian politician and communist party leader. Born in Medan, North Sumatra. Joined the Young Asian League in 1939, and joined the illegal Communist Party under Japanese military rule in 1943. After the declaration of independence, he became a central committee member of the party at the age of 24 in 1947. The following year, in 1948, he worked to rebuild the party, which had been destroyed by the failure of the Madiun incident, and became secretary of the party central committee in 1951 and secretary general in 1953. He expanded the party's influence with a flexible national united front policy, and in the first general election in 1955, he made the Communist Party one of the four major parties. After that, while sympathizing with President Sukarno, he promoted the radicalization of the party's policy both inside and outside Indonesia, and came into conflict with the anti-communist military and Islamic parties. He became a victim of the "Red Scare" following the failure of the left-wing uprising "September 30th Incident" in 1965, and was shot dead by the military.
