Innoshima-so

Japanese:
Innoshima-so

… [Kenzo Fujiwara]
[history]
The first time Innoshima was mentioned in the entry for December 15, 878 (Gankei 2) in the Sandai Jitsuroku, where it says that Innoshima was given the rank of Hidden Island God of Bingo Province without a rank, and in the Wamyōshō (Kozan-ji edition) Innoshima is recorded as a town in Mitsugi County. In 1191 (Kenkyū 2), the island appears in the list as one of the Chokōdō territories, and is called simply Innoshima (later Innoshima Manor). At the time the island became a manor, Innoshima contained smaller units within it, but it is believed that it was still a single entity as a whole. In 1276 (Kenji 2), during the mid-Kamakura period, Innoshima was divided into three areas: Mitsu Manor, owned by Joko-in; Innoshima Naka Manor, owned by Senyomon-in; and Shigeiura (later Shigei Manor), owned by the same empress. The lords of each area were members of the Hojo clan, and it is believed that the island was a Tokuso territory throughout the Kamakura period.
