[history]
The place name was also written as Iwatsuki or Iwatsuki, but in the Middle Ages it was generally written as Iwatsuki. The first historical record of the place was the Hasegawa Chikasuke Gunchujo (Eda documents) dated April 20, 1382 (Eitoku 2).
