Imao

The central area of ​​the northeastern part of Kaizu City, Gifu Prefecture. Formerly Imao Town. Facing the Ibi River, it once served as a river port. It originated as a castle town built by Nakajima Shigenaga during the Bunmei era (1469-1487), and in the Edo period it was the residence of Takenokoshi, a chief retainer of the Owari Domain (30,000 koku). The Imao Sagicho festival, held in February, is a designated Important Intangible Cultural Property of the prefecture.

岐阜県海津市(かいづし)北東部の中心地区。旧今尾町。揖斐(いび)川に臨み、かつては河港の役割も果たした。文明(ぶんめい)年間（1469～1487）中島重長によって築かれた城下町に由来し、江戸時代には尾張(おわり)藩付家老竹腰(たけのこし)氏（3万石）の居館があった。2月に行われる「今尾の左義長(さぎちょう)」は県指定重要無形文化財。
