[Ideological conflict]
Between the two "superpowers" or blocs, differences in political systems led to conflicts, and fierce debates were repeated over the legitimacy of the political principles of each system. This was a so-called ideological conflict, and the conflict took on the appearance of being about the validity of principles on which compromise was almost impossible.
