Double vision - Fukushi

Double vision - Fukushi
Diplopia is a condition in which an object appears as two. There are monocular (unicular) diplopia and binocular (unicular) diplopia, with binocular diplopia being the most important.
Both eyes move in coordination, but when eye muscle paralysis occurs (see column "Eye muscle paralysis"), while one eye moves normally in a certain direction, the other eye cannot keep up, and separate images are formed on the retina of each eye, causing you to see two separate images.
For example, if you have double vision when looking to the right, covering your right eye in that state can result in ipsilateral diplopia, where the image on the right disappears and becomes one, or crossed diplopia, where the image on the left disappears. Ipsilateral diplopia suggests lateral rectus paralysis of the right eye, while crossed diplopia suggests medial rectus paralysis of the left eye.
Some cases of double vision caused by thyroid disease, inflammation, tumors, diabetes, myasthenia gravis, etc. may be cured by treating the underlying disease or by natural progression. In other cases, surgery similar to that for strabismus may be performed.
