Ginkgo fern - Ginkgo fern

A small evergreen fern of the family Pteridophyceae. When young, it produces single pinnate leaves from a tuberous rhizome, and as it grows larger, it produces bundles of bipinnate leaves. The lobes are ginkgo-shaped. The sporangia are linear and gather in the center of the lobe. It is rarely found on limestone in mountainous areas throughout Japan.

チャセンシダ科の小形の常緑性シダ。塊状の根茎から若いときは単羽状の葉が出て、大きくなると2回羽状の葉が束生する。裂片はイチョウ形。胞子嚢(ほうしのう)群は線形で裂片の中央に集まる。日本各地の山地の石灰岩上にまれに産する。
