Born: July 11, 1916, Tokyo [Died] July 8, 2001. Tokyo Kabuki actor. Stage name Tachibanaya. Son of the 6th Bando Hikosaburo. Real name Bando Mamoru. Succeeded from the 7th Bando Hikosaburo in 1955. With a solid style of performance and a thorough knowledge of historical facts, he was a leading figure in the Onoe Kikugoro Theater Company. In 1990, he was recognized as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property, and in 1991, he became a member of the Japan Art Academy.
