Evil spirit - Akuryo (English spelling) Besy

Evil spirit - Akuryo (English spelling) Besy
A full-length novel by Russian author F. Dostoevsky. Published in 1872. The direct motivation for writing this novel was the "Nechayev Incident" in 1869, in which Ivanov, a student at Moscow's Agricultural University, offered to leave a revolutionary secret society and was brutally murdered by his comrades, led by Nechayev. The story was based on this incident and the characters in it. At the heart of the novel is the theme of "atheism," which the author had been nurturing for some time. The novel is an extremely original work, with magnificent artistic depictions of Stepan, an idealistic liberal from the 1940s; his student Stavrogin, a superhuman type with demonic intellect and contradictory ideas; Stepan's son Peter, leader of the Gang of Five; Shatov, who is assassinated as a traitor; and Kirillov, who preaches the idea of man as a god and tries to become a god by committing suicide.

Evil spirit

Also called "mononoke," these are gods or beings that cause illness or other abnormalities in humans. Sometimes, separated souls that leave the human body, that is, living spirits or dead spirits, become evil spirits. It was believed that evil spirits could be driven away by the power of gods and Buddhas, and so religious services and incantations were performed. Worship of evil spirits in Japan was most prevalent during the Heian period, and descriptions of this belief can be found in The Tale of Genji and The Diary of Murasaki Shikibu.
