...In June, when the Japanese irises bloom, there are many tourists. Yodaura is home to the Sawara Aquatic Botanical Garden, which has 100,000 Japanese irises of 120 varieties, and the Tone River Museum, which introduces life in the Suigo and the Tone River basin. Sawara is said to be the entrance to the Suigo, and Itako is said to be the inner sanctum. There are also folk songs rich in the atmosphere of the Suigo, such as "Itako Ondo" and "Itako Jinku," and the surrounding rivers and lakes are popular with anglers. [Kikuchi Toshio]
