Abudefduf notatus
Order Perciformes, family Pomacentridae. Body length reaches 13 cm. Extremely high body height and laterally compressed. Small mouth. Forked caudal fin. Characteristically has five thin pale-colored horizontal bands on the sides of the body, although all but the central band can be indistinct. Juveniles are often found in tide pools. Inhabits the western Pacific Ocean south of Chiba Prefecture and the Indian Ocean. Ornamental fish.

スズキ目スズメダイ科。体長 13cmになる。体高が著しく高く，側扁する。口は小さい。尾鰭は二叉する。体側に5本の細い淡色横帯をもつことが特徴であるが，中央の1帯以外は不明瞭になることがある。幼魚は潮だまりに多い。千葉県以南の西部太平洋，インド洋に分布する。観賞魚。
